HISTORY

Walsworth Publishing Company is headquartered in Marceline, Mo., located in north central Missouri. In 1937, three brothers, Don, Ed and Bill Walsworth settled in Marceline to print playbills. After expanding the product line several times, the decision was made in 1947 to produce yearbooks. In 1970 a commercial printing department was established to balance the cyclical yearbook production schedule, adding history books, church directories and other specialty publications to the Walsworth line.

Today, Walsworth is the only family-owned yearbook company. More than 90 employees have 20 or more years of service to the company, and Walsworth boasts more than 500 employees who have attained the status Master Printer of America. As might be expected in a small town company, it is not unusual to find several members of a family working for the company, including some families with three generations of employees.

With administrative and finishing plants in Marceline, a pre-press plant in nearby Brookfield and a sales and marketing office in Kansas City, Walsworth employs over 1300 people, from manufacturing and administrative personnel, to sales representatives based all over the world.

SERVICE

One of Walsworth's founding principles is, "Our people make the difference." Nowhere is that more apparent than in the service we provide to our customers.

With the lowest ratio of Customer Service representatives to customers in the industry, our Customer Service representatives can be reached via phone through our toll-free 800 line, or by 24-hour-a-day e-mail or FAX. They are in constant contact with the production team to quickly solve any problems that might be encountered.

As an ever-growing number of customers using computers in some way to produce their yearbook, the Computer Support department performs a valuable service by keeping a team of experts ready to answer questions via a special 800 number as well as e-mail, to help solve any problems you encounter. In addition, Computer Support is constantly working to find new and better ways of producing your book once it gets to the plant.

Perhaps most important to you, our sales representatives are provided with complete sales and technical training to ensure that they will, in turn, provide the best possible service to their schools. From one-on-one training sessions in the classroom to full-scale yearbook workshops, our representatives are there for you, to help you produce your best book ever.

TECHNOLOGY

In a world of constantly evolving technology, Walsworth stays ahead of the trends by finding the latest methods of book publishing.

Our Direct2Film system allows your photos and layouts to be scanned and placed directly into computer files, where they are then printed to film. This improves efficiency by eliminating the need to strip photos into the pages by hand.

The latest equipment, including our industry-leading Komori presses, ensure that your pages are set up and printed quickly, and with the highest possible quality.

Besides keeping ahead in printing technology, Walsworth also offers our customers innovative desktop tools, including PageMaker Enhancements, which customize your software for yearbook production, and TECKNOWLEDGEASE, our interactive CD-ROM to teach students how to produce their yearbook with PageMaker.

As our technological opportunities grow, Walsworth will continue to explore the best ways to use these abilities to help our customers.
