According to the Engineering News-Record's 2006 Top 400 Contractors Sourcebook, Turner ranks first in healthcare, education, correctional facilities and commercial offices contracts, second in sports. The firm was a "Top 10" player in multi-unit residential, airports, auto plants, entertainment, pharmaceutical, hotels, motels and convention centers, telecommunications, religious and cultural, government and industrial processing facilities. The firm also has extensive experience in the construction of food processing plants and parking structures.

STRUCTURE AND KEY SERVICES

Turner is structured as a matrix organization to best serve its clients. The company has a network of 46 local business units offering a broad range of construction services, including general contracting, construction management, consulting and monitoring, program management, project management, design-build, design-build-finance, multiple building programs, maintenance services, planning and preconstruction and feasibility studies.

Turner also operates a number of national segment groups, which focus on particular facility and client types, to complement the firm's geographical network of offices. These include Green Buildings, Healthcare, Justice, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology, Public Assembly, Sports, Transportation and Aviation and the Special Projects Division. This structure provides clients with the in-depth skills and experience needed in specialized facility types and the strength and understanding that come from a strong local market presence.

Turner also offers several value-added services to support the company's core business and market segment approach. These services include Turner Logistics, dedicated to supply chain management and Turner Casualty & Surety (TCS), which provides aggressive claims management, proactive safety and loss control programs and an operationally integrated risk management approach.

HISTORY

Turner Construction Company was founded in 1902 by Henry C. Turner. In October 1969, Turner became a publicly owned corporation whose shares were traded on the American Stock Exchange from 1972 until December 1998, when the company listed its shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: TUR). In 1984, The Turner Corporation was formed as a holding company for Turner Construction Company and other subsidiaries. In September 1999, The Turner Corporation was acquired by HOCHTIEF, Germany's largest construction firm and one of the world's leading international construction companies.
