About us… The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency was created in 1963 as an independent public corporation to provide students and their families with affordable access to higher education. PHEAA has grown into a nationwide organization serving millions of students and thousands of schools. Doing business nationally as American Education Services (AES), the funds generated from its operations are used to improve education opportunities and lower the cost of assistance for students while streamlining the entire process for the higher education community.
