Department of Transportation Transportation Security Administration On November 19, 2001, President Bush signed the Transportation Security Act that makes airport security a direct Federal responsibility. As a result of this legislation the Department of Transportation, Transportation Security Administration plans to hire a significant number of new Federal Transportation Security Screeners, Supervisors and Law Enforcement Officers.
