THE WB TELEVISION NETWORK, a joint venture of Warner Bros., Tribune Broadcasting and Jamie Kellner, launched on January 11, 1995, and has been the fastest-growing network on television in all key demographics since its debut. The network is currently available in 92% of U.S. households and has already become a financial success. During the 2002 calendar year, The WB was one of only three broadcast networks to turn a profit. The network is pacing ahead of that successful year in 2003. During the past season, The WB was the fastest-growing network on television in many key demos, including adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and total viewers, as well as kids 6-11. The WB Network’s key affiliate groups include Tribune Broadcasting (the network’s flagship station group with 20 stations, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago), Sinclair (18 stations), Acme (eight stations), plus The WB 100+ Station Group (a local cable-delivered operation representing markets 100-211), which launched in September 1998 and is available in more than 8 million households. The WB primetime broadcasts 15 hours a week during a six-night schedule (Sunday through Friday), featuring such hits as “Smallville,” “Gilmore Girls,” “7th Heaven,” “Everwood,” “Reba,” “What I Like About You,” “Grounded for Life” and “Charmed.” This season’s first-year series include the highly anticipated “Tarzan,” “All About the Andersons,” “Steve Harvey’s Big Time” and “One Tree Hill.” The WB’s children’s programming service, Kids’ WB!, is a leader in kids’ television, maintaining its top position as the #1 broadcast network since spring of 1999. Kids’ WB! Also continues to dominate as the #1 broadcast and cable network for the core demographic of Boys 6-11, Tweens 9-14 and Male Tweens 9-14, as well as dramatically narrowing the gap in the key demo Kids 6-11. Kids’ WB! is now the home of many returning hits, including “Yu-Gi-Oh!,” “Jackie Chan Adventures,” “Static Shock,” “Ozzy & Drix,” “¡Mucha Lucha!,” “What’s New Scooby-Doo?,” “X-Men: Evolution” and “Pokémon: Master Quest,” among other Kids’ WB! favorites on the top-rated schedule. The network also will launch its new 2003-2004 season with the returning series listed above as well as three additional new series, including the comedy crusade "Xiaolin Showdown," the classic animé icon, "Astro Boy" and the high-adventure "Teen Titan," in conjunction with Cartoon Network. In addition, select affiliates broadcast other children’s programs such as “Baby Looney Tunes.” Kids can find more on Kids’ WB!’s web site at www.KidsWB.com. |
