History Kodak Versamark, Inc. has been developing variable digital printing system provider for over 30 years. The company began in 1972 with the demonstration of its continuous inkjet technology as Mead Digital Systems, a division of Mead Paper Corporation. The first commercially available system using the technology was developed in 1976. In 1983, the inkjet technology was purchased by Eastman Kodak Company as a wholly owned subsidiary called Diconix. Diconix developed the first portable inkjet printer for the growing laptop computer marketplace in 1984. In 1988, Diconix, Inc. merged with Eastman Kodak Company to become Kodak Dayton Operations. The ink technology continued to mature and improve in quality. In 1993, Kodak sold the technology capability to Scitex Corporation Ltd., based in Herzlia, Israel. The Dayton operations became Scitex Digital Printing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Scitex Ltd. On January 5, 2004, the assets of Scitex Digital Printing, Inc. were acquired by the Eastman Kodak Company and became a wholly owned subsidiary. Kodak Versamark's expands Kodak's capabilities in digital commercial printing and complements Kodak's existing businesses-including Encad, Inc., a leading maker of wide-format inkjet printers; the Kodak Polychrome Graphics joint venture, the leading supplier of plates and other products to the graphic arts industry; and NexPress LLC joint venture, a leading supplier of digital color presses. Location Kodak Versamark is located east of Dayton in the new Research Park area at 3000 Research Boulevard. This large facility is especially designed to meet the growth plans f the company. Close access to I-675, US-35, and I-75 makes traveling to and from the facility easy. Kodak Versamark is only 20-25 minutes from the Dayton International Airport and a little over 60 minutes from the Greater Cincinnati International Airport. Access to higher education is well supported in the Dayton area with the University of Dayton, Wright State University and Sinclair College all within the local area.
