In the beginning, two Austrailian surfers had a dream…..to make a living and to surf every day! From these humble beginnings emerged a global billion dollar business.

In the early 1970’s, Bob McKnight and Jeff Hackman spearheaded Quiksilver operations in the United States when they obtained the licensing agreement to manufacture and sell the legendary “magic boardshort.” By the mid 1970’s, a small office & warehouse was opened in Newport Beach, CA. McKnight & Hackman built a business based on word of mouth, unbelievable service, and extensive personal contacts at surf shops on all 3 coasts, in the U.S.

Quiksilver has grown into the nation’s largest surf company ever! The company attributes this success to constant innovation in materials, high tech fabrics, cutting edge graphics, and an incredible pool of talented, creative and hard working employees. Today, Quiksilver designs, produces, and distributes a diversified mix of brands including: Quiksilver Youth, QuikSilverEdition, Roxy, Roxy Girl, Roxy Teenie Wahine, Radio Fiji, Leilani, Raisins, Raisins Girl, Cell, DC Shoes, Hawk, LIB Technologies, GNU, Bent Metal, and Fidra. More recently Rossignol, Dynastar, Lange, Kerma, Cleveland Golf, Cleveland Golf Canada, and Quiksilver Canada were added to the Quiksilver family. In addition, Quiksilver participates in global environmental awareness with The Quiksilver Foundation, which is a non-profit organization committed to protecting and enhancing the quality of boardriders’ communities throughout the world, in the support of environmental, educational, cultural, and scientific projects.

In September 2005, Quiksilver announced the opening of the Mountain Center, in Park City, Utah, which will act as the hub for the U.S. wintersports businesses.

Quiksilver has become far more than just a fashion apparel company. It’s a company with deep roots in the demanding industry of an outdoor sports lifestyle. Now, Quiksilver is truly a global brand with entities in Europe, Australia, and Japan. Quiksilver still remains a pioneering force, with a solid foundation in the most original of all sports……surfing.
