functions as a consultant and business partner to our lines of business. Corporate Finance professionals advise and support both line management and senior management as they seek to achieve long-term profitable growth. We hire highly educated and experienced professionals to provide valuable insight, rigorous analysis, and good business judgment. While primarily located in our Boston facility, Corporate Finance professionals support our business throughout our Andover, Boston, Franklin, and Norwood locations.

Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (back to menu)
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is responsible for delivering financial data and analysis to Putnam Management. The FP&A team guides Putnam's business leaders through the business planning and budget process. In addition, it is responsible for internal financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis of Putnam's business mix and profitability. It also provides the Trustees of the mutual funds with information during the annual renewal of management contracts.
Business Financial Planning and Analysis (back to menu)
Acting as a business partner, this group provides the lines of business with financial analysis to aid them in their decision-making, with the ultimate goal of improved sales and marketing performance. The business financial analysts provide support to the Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, and Mutual Fund divisions in the areas of business segment analysis, product and client profitability, fixed versus performance fees, revenue forecasting and analysis, sales reporting, revenue sharing, and cash flow analysis. The FP&A team also helps to evaluate new business initiatives.
Operations Financial Support (back to menu)
This finance team is responsible for communicating the financial activities of Putnam's Service Company to the Board of Trustees. Additionally, it ensures the cost competitiveness and cost effectiveness of Putnam's operations. Operational financial analysts partner with management in the Service Company and Information Systems Division (ISD) to ensure that Putnam's investment in systems is cost effective, efficient, and allocates resources to the proper business objectives. Another major focus of the Operations Finance group is to manage and reduce the financial risk of operations.
Risk, Tax, Treasury (back to menu)
This group specializes in financial control, tax, and treasury and supports planning, analysis, and control activities throughout Putnam. Services include workflow and organizational analysis, internal control reviews, preparation of the corporate federal and state income tax returns, research of tax issues, monitoring of capital requirements, and the management of corporate cash requirements and banking relations.
In addition to these services, Treasury is responsible for providing an independent assessment of risk relating to the use of derivatives in portfolios and for advising Putnam's Risk Management Committee of such risks.
Accounting Services (back to menu)
Payroll generates paychecks for over 6,000 employees per
year, including full-time, part-time, and contingent employees.
The group processes overtime hours, tax withholding changes,
and employee status changes. Payroll is responsible for
repairing and distributing W2 forms to Putnam employees, and
maintains and manages the firm's time and attendance system.
Accounts Payable audits and processes all payments to
corporate vendors and Putnam employees. In addition to
generating checks on a daily basis, the department is also
responsible for petty cash and for foreign drafts, certified
checks, and electronic transfers.
Billing prepares invoices for Putnam funds for all
management fees, 12b-1 fees, transfer agent fees, and custody
fees. The group also prepares and processes advisory fees for
Putnam's defined benefit clients. Billing provides reports and
analysis to the funds' Treasurer, Accounting, and Finance
departments.
General Accounting (back to menu)
This group provides Putnam Management and Marsh & McLennan, Putnam's parent company, with complex financial reporting and analysis including commissions accounting, sales reporting, maintenance of the SAP accounts receivable system, and fixed asset accounting. It also performs accounting duties relating to the Cayman funds and other international ventures. Accounting also enforces corporate financial policies and procedures.
Financial Systems and Reengineering (back to menu)
These professionals provide support to users of financial information throughout Putnam. This includes configuring financial systems to provide information to users and working with managers to improve the financial process. Putnam uses SAP, Oracle, and Peoplesoft systems as well as MS Office products. Putnam's reengineering experts have led projects such as implementing a new budgeting and forecasting system, payroll conversions, and a new purchasing system.
