The Lester A. Drenk Behavioral Health Center, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Burlington County, NJ, was founded by Judge Lester Drenk over 55 years ago. As a judge who often dealt with juvenile delinquents, Judge Drenk saw a need in his community for counseling services to address the problems of juveniles and their families. The organization was founded as the Burlington County Guidance Center and was later renamed in honor of Judge Drenk.
The Drenk Center’s mission is “to partner with people to create opportunities for recovery and wellness by offering behavioral health services” and has an extraordinary history of providing services to children, adolescents and their families. The agency has multiple sites throughout New Jersey and services include prevention programs, outpatient therapy and psychiatric services, substance abuse programs, emergency and crisis intervention services, therapeutic foster care, residential programs and case management services.
Through these programs, The Drenk Center serves approximately 7,000 people per year. The Drenk Center serves persons of all economic levels, all ethnic backgrounds and all educational backgrounds. A large number of our consumers are economically and educationally disadvantaged. We provide services to persons who could not otherwise afford them through funding from sources such as local, state and federal government, as well as the United Way, corporations, foundations and private donors.
