The regulatory group of the NYSE is composed of the following three divisions:
Enforcement- Conducts various timely
investigations to prosecute violators of NYSE rules and federal securities
laws in the areas of sales practice and supervision, market trading, member
firm trading, and financial and operational responsibility.
Member Firm Regulation-Conducts
in-depth examinations, and monitors member firms' financial and operational
conditions, along with their sales and proprietary trading practices.
Market Surveillance-
Conducts timely surveillance and investigation of trading in NYSE listed
securities in order to protect the integrity of the marketplace.

Competitive Position Group- This division
has primary responsibility for the listing of new companies and client
service in the domestic marketplace. The New Listings group works to attract
companies to list on the NYSE, either as transfers from other exchanges
or as Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). Once these companies list with the
NYSE, the Client Service group services their ongoing needs as NYSE-listed
organizations.
International & Research- Maintains
a globally recognized research capability on all relevant issues involving
equity markets. This division also strives to achieve true globalization
through the continual expansion of non-U.S. organizations listed on the
NYSE.

Equities- This division is responsible
for providing the day-to-day operational support inherent in managing an
equities market consisting of more than 12 trillion in market capitalization.
This group ensures that both our trading floor and trading systems are
working at peak efficiency. The Equities group is comprised of three areas:
Market Operations-
By managing the daily operations of the trading floor, this group enables
the NYSE to provide the most liquid, visible forum for the trading of securities
worldwide, as well as the fairest and most open pricing through our competitive
agency-auction market.
Technology-
Provides the technological expertise for equities, operations, regulation,
and all other corporate systems. Through its advanced information systems,
this group maximizes efficiency both on the trading floor and in the NYSE
corporate offices. The division is responsible for planning and developing
future technologies to ensure that NYSE trading and corporate systems can
accommodate rapid growth in trading volumes, and support expansion in NYSE
listings, products and regulation.
Market Data-
This group promotes widespread usage of real-time market data to distributors
throughout the world. These distributors in turn, use our data (prices,
volume, quotations) as their raw material in packaging and distributing
information to their customers. This group continually works to find new,
increasingly valuable uses for the NYSE to effectively market its data
and information.

Communications- Creates, develops,
and manages a broad range of programs to further enhance the NYSE's message
around the world. The Media Relations, Advertising and Merchandising, and
Editorial Services departments develop and implement communications and
marketing programs in support of Exchange business initiatives.

Office of the General Counsel - Provides
legal services and support to other divisions within the organization,
identifying and addressing any legal threats to the Exchange.

resolution and the hearing of disciplinary charges.
