About the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) of The City of New York
The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) is the administrative arm of New York City government. We are the entity responsible for supporting all City agencies which provide services to the public. Although DCAS’ primary responsibility is to provide support services to the other City agencies and employees, we also provide opportunities for individuals and businesses to benefit from our many resources.The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) works to ensure that City agencies have the critical resources and support needed to provide the best possible services to the public.
Specifically, DCAS:
- Supports City agencies’ workforce needs in recruiting, hiring and training City employees;
- Provides overall facilities management, including security, maintenance and construction services for 53 public buildings;
- Sells and leases non-residential real property; and
- Purchases, inspects and distributes supplies and equipment.
DCAS is made up of 2,000 diverse and talented employees. They include architects, engineers, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, lawyers, mechanics, procurement specialists, information technology specialists, custodians and managers.
