About Us The Conant Auto Retail Group is among the largest and fastest growing privately owned auto groups in the US. It's present success, is however, built on modest beginnings and on values that have kept the focus of the company since it began. Norm Reeves Motorcycles was established in December 1955. This first location was in Bellflower, California. In 1959, Honda Motorcycles were introduced into the United States. Norm Reeves was appointed as the 7th authorized Honda Motorcycle Dealer on May 11, 1961 and consistently remained one of the top ten motorcycle dealerships until the last of the dealerships were sold on November 14, 1978. American Honda selected a small number of their successful motorcycles dealers to become their first Honda Automobile Dealerships - all of which were in California. Norm Reeves was appointed as the 6th Honda Automobile on March 26, 1970. Norman K. Reeves passed away on March 24, 1973. His widow Donna L. Reeves became President of the Company. Ground was broken at the Cerritos Auto Square location in March 1983 and the Grand Opening was held on October 21, 1983. In January 1984 the company to was fortunate to hire a young, enthusiastic salesperson from Wisconsin by the name of David Conant. A couple of years later, Mr. Conant was promoted to Sales Director. Soon thereafter, he was promoted to Vice President and General Manager. His values, work ethic and performance record afforded Mr. Conant the opportunity to buy into the company in 1989. Mr. Conant and his management team grew the business over 400% in 4 years. In 1991, the Superstore became the #1 Honda Dealership Worldwide! The Superstore has held this title every year since and is considered an industry leader among all auto brands throughout the United States. To better serve the Orange County Customers, on January 3, 1994, Norm Reeves Honda opened its second Honda Superstore in Huntington Beach. David M. Conant became the President of the Company in October 1995. Creating the Conant Auto Retail Group, Mr. Conant's vision continued to grow. Expanding the product line, in November 6, 1998, adding Cerritos Ford, Cerritos Lincoln/Mercury and Cerritos Infiniti. These dealerships represent a large portion of the World's Largest Auto Mall, The Cerritos Auto Square. The Conant Auto Retail Group opened its 3rd Honda Superstore in West Covina on November 3, 1999. On November 19, 2001 the Car Group was able to acquire their long-sought-after Toyota franchise in San Diego. Rose Toyota was the nations 1st franchised Toyota dealership. It continues the C.A.R. Group legacy with its new name - Toyota San Diego. In January 2003, due to the growing success of the Infiniti product line, The Conant Auto Retail Group has opened a second Dealership for this product line - Riverside Infiniti. David Conant's underlying business philosophy has always been to focus on the care and satisfaction of his customers and his people. This remains the CAR Group's management philosophy today. These values have fueled the company's growth in the past decade and will be the basis of it's growth in the future.
