The Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans are non-profit, multi-employer trust funds, established in the early 1950s by collective bargaining agreements between many of the employers in the Motion Picture Industry and various unions and guilds representing "behind the camera" employees in a variety of occupations. The Plans are governed by separate Boards of Directors whose members are appointed in equal numbers by participating unions and employers. The Plans are primarily funded by the Employers' contributions as provided by existing agreements. These contributions, until needed to pay insurance premiums or benefits, are invested with the advice of professional investment counsel. The Plans provide a variety of insurance plans to our Participants, including choices of medical and dental plans, prescription, vision, and life insurance. On the pension side, we administer both a traditional defined benefit plan and a defined contribution plan. Although maintained as separate legal entities, beginning in 1990, the Plans administratively merged to form the "Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans." We currently have 240 employees at our primary location in Studio City, California and our office in New York City, NY. There are over 1,000 Employer members and more than 40 unions and guilds representing over 40,000 workers. MISSION STATEMENT The Plans exist to improve the quality of the lives of skilled professionals in the motion picture industry by enabling them to enjoy optimal health, and financial security during retirement years.
