Overview

The Beginning

LoJack spent many years developing and testing this unique patented technology before it became available to the public. In July, 1986, the System became available in Massachusetts as a market experiment. Subsequently in 1989 the Federal Communications Commission, satisfied with the test and success of the technology, approved the LoJack System for marketing to consumers, and allocated a police radio band for operation of a nationwide Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, using the patented LoJack technology.

The Problem of Vehicle Theft

The problem of vehicle theft has escalated to an epidemic level - estimated to result in an annual loss of almost $7.5 billion. The LoJack System has a proven track record of reducing damage, improving overall public safety, and solving serious crimes related to motor vehicle theft - all accomplished within the practical constraints of today's overburdened law enforcement system.

Company Growth

LoJack's strategy is to expand the use of its technology into those U.S. and international markets where the combination of population density, new car sales, and vehicle theft is high. Since its successful introduction, the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network has been expanded to include the following markets: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, New Jersey, Georgia, Virginia, District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

International Expansion

The success of the technology in the United States has resulted in interest all around the world. LoJack systems are presently in operation under licensing agreements in the following international locations: United Kingdom, Greece, Ecuador, Colombia, Czechoslovakia, the Slovak Rebublics, Hong Kong, Trinidad and Tobago, Russia, Argentina, Venezuela, Panama, South Africa, Kenya, and Korea with systems to be introduced in the following locations in the near future: Germany, Brazil and Mexico.
