OUR BUSINESS
Lockheed Martin Mission Systems' Gaithersburg Division is an industry-leading integrator of complex information technology systems for federal, commercial and international users. We are experts in the handling of information and data in virtually all forms. We apply our systems development and advanced software engineering expertise on mission-critical applications that range from satellite command and control, to tax systems modernization, to work for the classified and worldwide intelligence community. The division has achieved ISO 9001 registration, the international quality standard.
We work on more than 60 programs managed from six locations, including primary sites at Boulder and Colorado Springs, CO; Beltsville and Gaithersburg, MD; and Santa Clara, CA. This work is in four business areas:
Satellite Ground/Mission Processing Systems
Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence (C4I)

SATELLITE AND GROUND MISSION PROCESSING SYSTEMS
Surveillance Programs:
Defense Support Program. For more than 25 years, Mission Systems in Gaithersburg has led development of
ground command and control systems for the Air Force's Defense Support Program (DSP) in the areas of
satellite surveillance processing, infrared sensor phenomenology and algorithms. Through the DSP
Software Engineering Support (DSES) contract, the company provides software and sustaining engineering
services of mission critical applications for DSP. Our expertise in surveillance technologies include
fixed, mobile and transportable satellite control ground stations; missile tracking algorithms and
software; and data fusion algorithms and associated software. Among other contracts, Gaithersburg
was selected to design the ground segment in the demonstration/validation phase of the Space-Based
Infrared Systems (SBIRS) missile defense program for the consolidation of the existing DSP and new SBIRS satellites.
