Founded in 1945 by Charles H. Kaman, the company began as a helicopter manufacturer with new ideas for vertical flight. Charles Kaman set out to solve the problems of helicopter flight, inventing and patenting a unique servo-flap rotor control system subsequently used on all Kaman helicopters. Throughout the company's history, technology development has consistently been the basis for growth and throughout its history the company has consistently produced aircraft noted for reliability, maintainability, safety and flight stability. Kaman helicopters, derivative hardware, aircraft components and logistics have supported the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marines as well as international military and commercial customers for over fifty years.
