As part of the Generation business unit, Exelon Power is an innovator in the areas of fossil, hydro and renewable energy development. We serve the growing energy needs of the nation through safe, efficient and environmentally responsible fossil fuel and hydroelectric power generation. The current fleet of fossil and hydroelectric generation is composed of 72 units that provide more than 4,800 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity using a variety of fuels. In addition, through power purchase agreements for three wind farms located in Pennsylvania, Exelon has become the largest provider of wind power east of the Mississippi River. This diverse fuel mix complements Exelon's nuclear generated assets by ensuring power during the intermediate shoulder seasons and peak demand times when prices for energy are high. We're committed to growing our generation portfolio and expanding our markets while exercising sound financial discipline. By doing so, Exelon Power plays an integral role in allowing the corporation to remain competitive in the deregulated utility market. |
