Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center (Didi Hirsch CMHC) is a 501(c)(3) corporation with a 29 member Board of Directors. The Center’s annual budget is over $19 million with 380 employees. The Board of Directors manages the Corporation's activities and affairs and exercises all Corporate powers as provided through the Center's Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. The original program (Los Angeles Psychiatric Service) was founded in 1942 in response to the psychological aftermath of the depression and was the first nonprofit, community outpatient clinic for adults in Los Angeles County. In 1972, the agency became a full-service community mental health center and was renamed in honor of a major donor and board member, Didi Hirsch. Offering specialized mental health and substance abuse services, Didi Hirsch CMHC serves clients with little or no income who would otherwise have nowhere to turn. In 1997, Didi Hirsch and Family Service of Los Angeles (FSLA) agreed to merge. Established in 1902, Family Service of Los Angeles also has an extensive history of serving the Los Angeles community--providing a wide variety of counseling and family strengthening services. Today, as a result of the merger the surviving corporation, Didi Hirsch CMHC is able to provide services to the community that otherwise would have been lost. Geographical Location: Didi Hirsch CMHC has its headquarters in Culver City, CA and provides services at 12 sites throughout Los Angeles County. We serve a diverse population in communities ranging from Pacoima (north) to Gardena (south) and from Venice (west). The majority of programs are located in the western portion of Los Angeles.
