Technology & Market Information Our strategy is focused on leveraging our expertise at the critical interface where the traditional world of analog "wire" meets the digital computer resources that are driving emerging business and consumer applications. Our product development efforts currently focus on high-voltage analog and mixed-signal ICs, as well as system level integration (SLI) technologies. Clare's current marketing initiatives apply our expertise toward addressing the growing demand for connectivity solutions that enable Internet driven applications and other next-generation technologies in a number of areas: Communications - Clare is applying its connectivity expertise toward the development of ASICs and ASSPs that can accommodate the greater bandwidth required by Internet-enabled applications in areas such as data communications and networking, including home networking and DSL modems. Telecommunications - Clare is leveraging its expertise in connecting wire and digitally-based technologies through the development of local loop access connection products for "last mile" applications, such as personal interface devices and solutions to link the central office (CO) with the small office/home office (SOHO) environment. Automated Test Equipment (ATE) - As rising pin counts make ICs increasingly complex, Clare is responding with integrated solid state relays, controllers, and drivers that leverage our core competence in delivering connectivity products for high-voltage and high-speed/ low impedance switching. Sales and Distribution Clare, Inc. sells its products to its worldwide customers through a network of direct salespeople, contract sales representatives, and distributors in North America, Europe, Japan, and the Far East. The Company has established a broad base of approximately 700 customers representing a wide range of industries and applications. The communications industry represents the Company's largest customer segment due to the industry's pervasive use of switch and relay technology and the need for integrated solutions. The Company seeks to provide customized solutions and to sell complementary products across all Clare lines to both existing and new customers. Clare believes it differentiates itself from its competitors by offering a high level of customer service and technical sales support to its customers. The Company maintains a worldwide team of technical applications engineers who are fully trained on the use of all Clare products and dedicated to providing ongoing technical support.
