The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® is the largest and oldest privately held specialty coffee and tea retailer in the U.S. With over 140 locations worldwide, we enjoy a strong presence and reputation for excellence as part of communities in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Brunei, Korea and Israel.

The latter part of 2000 marked the much-anticipated expansion of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® into the Phoenix, Arizona (two stores) and San Francisco markets with new stores opening in Las Vegas in Summer 2001. This year The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® has signed its first ever domestic Area Development Agreement for Nevada.

Since we introduced gourmet coffee and tea to the Asia-Pacific Region in 1996 we have opened more than 70 successful stores in Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan with further expansion planned in Brunei and Korea. In 2000, we also opened our first stores in Israel with other stores to follow in the Middle East region in the near future.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® directly imports the finest high grown coffees from around the world. Our 30,000 square-foot facility in Camarillo, California roasts daily and delivers the fresh beans to our shops. In addition, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® imports and flavors its own teas, makes its own Special Dutch™ chocolate powder and French Deluxe™ vanilla powder, which helps us create our world famous original Ice Blended®. A full line of complimentary coffee and tea items is also available.

HISTORY
The concept for The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® stores was born during a trip that the founders Herbert and Mona Hyman took to Europe over thirty years ago. After touring the many outstanding coffee shops throughout Europe, the couple decided to bring the specialty coffeehouse idea to America. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® was established in 1963 opening its first store in Brentwood, California which continues to operate today as one of our highest volume and highest profile stores.

The foundation of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® is a commitment to quality. We produce and serve only the finest coffees and teas from around the world. Each year we search out the best harvests from Sumatra to Costa Rica to bring to our tasting room for inspection and sampling and accept only the highest grades of green coffee and full leaf tea. As part of our commitment to providing our customers with the finest coffees available, we started offering 100% Kona and Jamaican Blue Mountain coffees. We are proud to serve our drinks in the most beautiful hand-built oak coffeehouses by the best-trained staffs in the industry.

For over thirty-seven years, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® has developed the finest resources, roasting techniques, retailing know-how, and innovative trend setting coffee and tea drinks. Our founder Herbert B. Hyman is recognized as the "founding father "of specialty coffee in America and has helped mentor many of the leading coffee executives in the industry.

WE DO IT OURSELVES
We believe in the age-old motto, "If you want it done right, do it yourself." We import all our beans directly from source countries, roast them in our own 30,000 square-foot roasting plant in Camarillo, California, then sell them in our own retail stores that we build ourselves. We import all our teas and flavor them ourselves. We have our own bakeries in the U.S. and Singapore to supply our stores with the highest quality fresh baked goods, sandwiches and salads, produced from our own recipes.

INNOVATION
At The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® we continually build upon our vast experience to invent numerous industry firsts. We invented our trademark Ice Blended ®, the frozen mocha drink that created a new drink category and is the most popular frozen coffee drink in the world. We also invented the first specialty coffee extract ever produced. Our French Deluxe ™vanilla and Special Dutch ™ Chocolate powder are industry firsts that gives our coffee drinks a flavor vastly superior to any other. Our newest innovations were the Chai Latté, a creamy sweet spicy chai tea drink and our juice-based Ice Blended® Drinks, a variety of smoothies blended with our French Deluxe ™vanilla powder that have once again set an industry standard.
