OUR HISTORY: In 1956, Gil Braun opened the first Brauns store in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mr. Braun believed the keys to success were quality, value, and attention to each customer's needs. Although Mr. Braun has retired, his commitment to quality, value, and customer service continue.
Brauns Fashions became a public company in March 1992, and in July 2000, the company changed its name to Christopher & Banks.
In the Fall of 2000, Christopher & Banks' plus size division, C.J. Banks, opened its first 20 stores to serve the size 14 and up woman. C.J. Banks store locations are paired with existing Christopher & Banks stores.
In November 2004, Christopher & Banks Corporation acquired Acorn from Gilmore Brothers, Inc. The Acorn concept appeals to a more affluent customer with a more upscale fashion taste than the current Christopher & Banks' customer.
Today the Christopher & Banks merchandising team is dedicated to creating clothing that offers a unique blend of quality, styling, easy care and versatility. Exclusive styling and manufacturing of merchandise results in excellent value to our customers.
OUR COMMUNITY: The company encourages community participation and is proud to present the MS Walk held each Spring in Minnesota. Christopher & Banks Corporation currently sponsors MS Walks in Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Central Pennsylvania, Western and Upstate New York, West Virginia, Michigan, Indiana, Inland Washington, North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, Southern NY, Long Island, Dallas, Greater Illinois and the St Louis area.
In our home state of Minnesota, we would like to thank over 9,500 walkers and more than 800 volunteers in 2006 who together raised more than $1.9 million for research to help end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis and programs for people with MS. We look forward to seeing you at one of the many MS Walk sites across the country.
