Based on this drive for quality, the company opened its first Wendy’s franchised store in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1975, and it was Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, who inspired Joseph Karam, the founder and CEO of Cedar Enterprises, with his commitment to quality and his recipe for success: hard work, patience, honesty, and total commitment. This recipe has continued to inspire the Karam family and the Cedar Team that led the expansion of Wendy’s of Las Vegas as it grew from a single store in 1975 to an operating market of 21 stores by 1993. At that point in time, Cedar Enterprises was formally created, with corporate offices located in Columbus, Ohio. Along with the Las Vegas Market, a well-developed San Antonio, TX Market, totaling 27 stores, was added to the organization. Soon to follow, the Indianapolis, IN and Seattle, WA Markets were purchased, and an aggressive growth and development plan was implemented. The organization is now comprised of slightly less than 100 well-placed and well-organized restaurants - and we are still growing.
