Overview

Crozer-Keystone Health System . . . Something to feel good about.

It's an impression that our patients and the communities we serve are left with time and time again. It's an impression forged by extraordinarily devoted and skilled nurses, physicians, and other health professionals who value their roles and the lives they touch every single day.

As the largest health care system and the largest employer in the Delaware County area, Crozer-Keystone is committed to employing nurses and nursing professionals who can both appreciate and sustain a highly-respected patient satisfaction, health care, and business philosophy. Crozer-Keystone Health System is a place where nursing professionals with varied experience and degrees, both new graduates and seasoned experts, are encouraged to learn, thrive, and advance to new challenges in their specialty field.

Quality Highlights

Our nurses have been instrumental in helping us earn local, regional, and national recognition in a variety of target initiatives:

CKHS was the only VHA system to receive two Clinical Effectiveness Leadership Awards - one for our hospitals' system-wide intravenous therapy program with uniform labeling and standardized premixing, and the other for the Office of Disease Management's cost-effective chronic disease management program.

CKHS ranked in the top 10% of 135 regional and national VHA hospitals for care of ischemic stroke patients when care processes, outcomes, complications, and early interventions of care were measured.

CKHS Community Health measures are improving and far surpassed the National Healthy People 2000 goals in breast examination and mammograms, prostate examinations, blood pressure screening, and pap smear tests for women under 50 years old.

A History of Comprehensive Service

From its beginning in 1990, Crozer-Keystone Health System, located minutes from Philadelphia, has been the dominant provider of health care in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, northern Delaware, and parts of western New Jersey. Our service population represents almost one million people.

More than 1,100 physicians and 6,000 employees provide a full spectrum of wellness, prevention, acute and long-term care, rehabilitation and restorative care to the community. Crozer-Keystone facilities house a Level II Trauma Center, a Regional Burn Center, two Regional Cancer Centers, a fertility center, a Sleep-Disorders Center, a U.S. Olympic Committee-designated sports science and technology center, and a 475,000 square-foot wellness center and sports club.

With almost 400 miles of fiber optic cable linking our facilities and physicians, Crozer-Keystone is positioned to enter the 21st century as a well-integrated delivery system. Evidence of this can be seen in Crozer-Keystone's telemedicine operation, its integrated lifetime clinical record, and its award-winning Child Health Reminder System.

Facilities, Services . . . and Opportunities

As a nursing professional at CKHS, you can expect rewarding opportunities in any of our five hospitals in the suburban Philadelphia area.

  • Crozer-Chester Medical Center, located in the Borough of Upland, is a large, 675-bed teaching hospital formed in 1963 that offers unique services such as a high-tech level II Trauma Center with Burn Unit, a Heart Surgery/Cardiac Center, and a Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility Center-as well as the latest progressive treatments-in a suburban setting.

  • Delaware County Memorial Hospital, a 300-bed acute care facility located in Drexel Hill, offers the quality care that experience brings along with a welcoming, patient-centered family of care-givers. Established in 1927, DCMH provides the community with a full-range of orthopedic, obstetric, medical, surgical, rehabilitation, and 24-hour emergency services. Other services include a Cancer Center, a Woman's Diagnostic Center, a SurgiCenter, the MRI Center, and community health education.

  • Taylor Hospital is a 213-bed, small community hospital serving the Ridley Park and surrounding area since the early 1900's. It is a non-teaching institution with a friendly atmosphere, offering a full range of inpatient, outpatient, and Medicare-certified home health services and specialized programs, including a Community Wellness Center and a Sleep Disorder Center.

  • Springfield Hospital is a not-for-profit acute care hospital offering a full range of services located on the Healthplex Campus. Unlike most hospitals, which focus on treating illnesses requiring an inpatient stay, the Campus focuses on helping patients stay well.

  • Community Hospital offers Community Home, Behavioral Health, and Substance Abuse Services, as well as a Center for Family Health (Primary Care). The hospital services the southeast Delaware County area and surrounding communities.
