Three award-winning hospitals and more than 5,000 employees providing a variety of health care services make Bon Secours one of metropolitan Richmond's largest employers. Recognized as an employer of choice by Working Mother magazine for the fifth consecutive year, Bon Secours is committed to numerous community outreach health programs and services. As part of its healing ministry mission, the Bon Secours mobile medical unit - the Care-A-Van - is continually on the road delivering health care across a 50-mile radius. Through this program, Bon Secours physicians and nurses are able to conduct routine physical exams, immunizations and health screenings to the poor and needy. In 2003, Bon Secours Richmond expanded its Family Practice Residency Program with two opportunities for training - in both Blackstone and Mechanicsville, VA. Construction is also underway at St. Francis Medical Center in Chesterfield County to develop a 130-bed acute care hospital which will be completed in summer 2005. The Bon Secours Richmond Health System operates a School of Nursing and a School of Medical Imaging and is also expanding services to the community south of the James River.
