Bell Helicopter's
Goal
Bell Helicopter
Textron, a division of Textron Canada Limited (BHTC), is the world's
leading helicopter manufacturer. Mirabel's unique complex is a highly
diversified plant with advanced technology services; its final products
are the world's best-built helicopters.
Officially inaugurated
in 1986, BHTC manufactures more than seven different models in its plant
that occupies an area of 16,123 square feet on a 152-acre site.
In over 12 years
of operation, Mirabel has built more than 2000 helicopters, a number
that represents more than 50% of the total production of commercial
turboshaft engine helicopters in the word. Today, these fly in more
than 120 countries.
Human Resources
Bell Helicopter
Textron, a division of Textron Canada Limited (BHTC), has adopted a
participative management approach.
In order to implement
this approach, the production management system has been structured
according to a model based on sectors of activity into which semi-autonomous
teams are integrated.
The following results
are expected from the production team: improvement
of the quality of working life;
manufacturing of a superior quality product;
cost reduction and schedule adherence.
Team work is the
guideline at BHTC. Its main significant factors are team efficiency,
synergy, cohesiveness and teambuilding. Several elements are required
to build a team:
a common
goal;
active involvement;
sense of belonging;
genuine interest for BHTC.
This approach enables
more than 1,700 BHTC staff members to work in a modern management company.
This method is flexible and can be readily adapted to serve the vitality
of our constantly evolving environment.
The Human Resources
Division manages the following sectors: Recruitment, Training, Employee
Relations, Compensation, Translation, Employee Benefits, the Medical
Centre and Fire Prevention.
Other Services:
Quality and Reliability
BHTC manufactures
more than 200 helicopters per year. To ensure the company's ongoing
success, BHTC must depend on its employees who work in the following
