BancTec is a systems integration and services company specializing in image-based financial transaction processing systems, workflow and image management software products, and professional services. The Company provides products and services for banking, financial services, insurance, health care, government, utility, telecommunications and retail industries in markets throughout the world. Throughout its history, BancTec has been noted for its technical strengths in high-speed document processing as well as technologies relating to imaging, data capture, and character recognition. Founded in 1972, the Company initially developed and manufactured check sorting and other related systems for the banking industry. Over the next 30 years, BancTec has continued to grow by acquiring other high-tech companies and by diversifying its product line. The addition of image-and non-image based products such as remittance payment and document processing systems, workflow software, image processing and LAN/PC Services enabled the company to grow from a start-up operation to a profitable industry leader in a relatively short period of time.

COMPANY ORGANIZATION AND PRODUCTS

BancTec's US systems business is organized into six separate business units known as US Solutions:

  • Payment Solutions: Key products include PayCourier 1 and 2 and PayCourier Archive.
  • Banking Solutions: Key products include RRS 2000 Reject Repair and Return Item processing applications, Open Archive and OEM channel sales of transports.
  • Document Solutions: Deliver vertical solutions based on Plexus and eFIRST technology. Document Solutions also includes scanners.
  • Software Services: Service Management team, Montreal support team for PayCourier and Silver Spring support team for Open Archive. This combined group provides a complete service capability.
  • Professional Services
  • Plexus: focuses on providing advanced software products for workflow, image storage, data management, forms processing and character recognition capabilities that enable users to automate, coordinate and streamline business processes.

Support Products is part of our US Operations. BancTec's Software Product Development/Engineering Services group is a separate business area. The Traditional Hardware Services organization and The Hardware Systems organization includes Manufacturing, Material Control and Hardware Product Development.

In addition, BancTec, Inc. has a separate organization, Computer & Network Services, that focuses on providing a variety of outsourcing arrangements for network and desktop computing support services. BancTec is also a leading provider of warranty repair service for Dell Computer Corp., Compaq Computer Corp., Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., AST Research Inc., Power Computing Co., PictureTel, Inc. and several other high-tech companies.
