What is the history of Actuant?
Actuant, formerly Applied Power, was originally founded in 1910 as American Grinder and Manufacturing. In 1987, Applied Power made its initial public offering on the NASDAQ and one year later acquired Gardner Bender. For 10 years, Applied Power acquired numerous other companies such as Calterm, Vision Plastics, Norelem, Del City, and many others. In 1998, Applied Power reorganized into two business segment: APW Industrial and APW Electronics. In 2000, Applied Power spins off the Electronics business segment into a separate public company called APW Ltd. APW Ltd. officially changed the name to Actuant Corporation in 2001.
